The Land of Peace: A Vision Fulfilled

A Long-Awaited Dream

Ojimba-Ama, famously known as the Land of Peace, was founded by late Pa Iweriso Ojimba. For many years, the Anglican faithful of Ojimba had to swim across the creek known as "Fusika" to attend services at St. Anne's in Okujagu-Ama. The desire for a local church was strong, but the community initially leaned towards other ecclesiastical missions.

The vision was finally realized on **Sunday, 5th July 1999**, following a powerful three-day crusade led by Ven. Rufus Tamunotonye Etire. The church was christened **Saint James the Greater** on the feast day of the saint, 25th July 1999.

Building Together

The young congregation initially gathered on the veranda of Madam Evangeline Edward Ojimba before moving to a permanent site granted by the Ojimba-Ama Community in the year 2000. Under the guidance of early church teachers like Francis T. Benson and the selfless contributions of community leaders, the temple was built up through the years.

A significant milestone was reached when Sir Admiral O. P. Fingesi, moved by the sight of blocks prepared for the church, promised to complete the building. On September 20, 2009, the congregation moved into the new temple, celebrated by an Episcopal visit from Bishop Tubo Abere. To God be the glory, the sanctuary stands complete today as a testament to faith and community unity.
