St. John's Anglican Church, Chuku-Ama was planted by St. Martin's Anglican Church and stands as the second Anglican Church in Ogu Town. The church building began with a thatched and mud house. The first members who started the church were Mrs. Dorcas Bipiamina, Mr. Owubokiri Paul, Mrs. Love Iringeri, Mr. Kpawaiseibema Iringeri, Mrs. Ikpoyonma Iringeri, Mr. Irisoanga and Mrs. Bernice Iringeri. They served God with joy and commitment — to them, serving God was everything they desired in life.
The need for a permanent worship site became pressing and necessary. The foundation laying ceremony was performed by Rt. Rev. Yibo Fubara in 1971, Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta. Mr. Gbobo served as the first Agent, a man wholly dedicated to God. Mr. Sonachuku followed as the second Agent.
The foundation of the church parsonage was laid in 2012 by Rt. Rev. Tubokosemie Robinson Abere, Premier Bishop, Diocese of Okrika, and was dedicated in 2024 by the same Bishop, now retired.
