From Seeds to Legacy: Our Story

The Beginning (1878): Christianity arrived in Okrika in 1878 through vision, not force. Missionaries came with a dream: transformation through the Gospel. By May 1881, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther officially named our church. St. Peter's Cathedral (1924) still stands today as a testament to enduring faith.

Growth (1983-2003): Decades of steady growth saw new churches planted and leaders trained. By 1983, Okrika became an Archdeaconry; in 2003, the Diocese of Okrika was established, shifting our future and mission to new heights.

The Mission Continues (2003-Today): From our first Bishop, Rt. Revd. T.R. Abere, to our current Bishop, Rt. Revd. Dr. Enoch Atuboyedia, our legacy expands: scholarships, youth development, church planting, prayer, and growth across 16 archdeaconries. Our journey continues, vision grows, and mission remains.

Mission Dove

"Our mission is simple, to bring those who are far from God close to him."

Okrika Grammar School

Building More Than Buildings

Okrika Grammar School, founded in 1940, stands as a beacon of education and community impact. After 85 years, its restoration in March 2025 continues our tradition of holistic transformation—proving that investment in youth and education shapes the future of Okrika and Nigeria.

Rooted in Truth: Our foundation is Scripture. The Holy Bible is our ultimate guide and authority for life, and we celebrate the grace of salvation through Jesus Christ.

We worship God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As Anglicans, we live biblically, liturgically, and missionally, seeking to transform and serve our community in the Okrika context.

SHEPHERDING WITH VISION

The Rt. Revd. Dr. Enoch Atuboyedia, JP

Every great leader has a beginning. For Bishop Enoch Atuboyedia, that beginning was right here in Okrika—the same streets, the same communities, and the same families he now serves as Bishop.

Growing up in a Christian home where faith was lived out daily, young Enoch sensed God's call at an early age, leading to a lifelong journey of preparation and service.
